Join us for our Tag & Bake Sale on Saturday, November 10th from 9 A.M.--3 P.M. Lots of wonderful items to be found at great prices. Looking to clear out some items from your house? We are currently seeking donations for the sale! If you have clean, gently used items we would love take them off your hands. Please no large items (like furniture) or clothes. Items can be dropped off at the center M-F from 8:00 A.M.--2:30 P.M. We are also be seeking donations of baked goods for the sale. Call Briana at 485-8112 with questions.
Hunter Storytelling Night Wednesday, November 14th at 5:30 P.M.
Do you have a compelling story about hunting? Something that really got your heart pounding? Did you finally catch the big one and want to share your success with others? Then join us for a night of thrilling hunting stories. A member from VT Fish & Wildlife will be here to help facilitate. Storytellers are encouraged to practice their stories at home to try and keep it to 5 minutes. Got props or pictures to share? Please bring them along! This link has great info on tips and tricks to telling a great story. Light refreshments will be provided. Free and open to the public.
Thanksgiving Meal Thursday, November 15th at Noon
Come celebrate Thanksgiving with us here at the Senior Center on Thursday, November 15th at Noon. We'll be serving up a delicious meal of roast turkey with gravy, stuffing, squash, mashed potatoes, peas, onions, cranberry sauce, rolls, and pumpkin pie. Meals are a suggested donation of $7/person and signing up in advance is required. To sign up you can stop by the Center or call us at 485-8112.
Special Meal by Gifford Tuesday, November 27th at Noon
Staff from Gifford will be back to cook another delicious meal for us at the Center. This meal is FREE and is being prepared as a way of saying 'thank you' to the Northfield community. A meal of lasagna, salad, bread, cider, and pumpkin cake will be served. Signing up in advance is required. Please call the Center at 485-8112 or stop by to sign up.
Senior Holiday Gala Saturday, December 8th at 4:00 P.M.
Save the date for our upcoming Senior Holiday Gala taking place on Saturday, December 8th. A social hour will take place from 4:00-5:00 P.M. with non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers, followed by a delicious prime rib dinner at 5:00 P.M. Music for your enjoyment will be after the meal. Attire is dressy casual--dress like you're going out for a nice meal. The meal is $10/person and tickets need to be purchased in advance by Friday, November 16th. Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Program Thursdays 3:00-4:00 P.M. starting in January 2019
Are you at risk for developing type 2 diabetes? You're at a greater risk for developing type 2 diabetes if you:
Are overweight or obese
Don't get enough exercise
Have high blood pressure
Have abnormal cholesterol
Have a parent, brother, or sister with diabetes
The good news is there's a lot you can do to help prevent diabetes, and we can help! By joining our Diabetes Prevention Program you'll receive education and support to help you adopt healthier eating and exercise habits that can lead to weight loss and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Participants will meet once a week for the first 16 weeks, and then meet every other week, and then monthly for a total of 25 sessions.
