Meals and Nutrition

Greater Northfield Senior Center (GNSC) works hard to ensure that all area seniors have access to at least one regular nutritious meal per day. Food is love, and nourishing food is very important, and is the cornerstone of our work here at GNSC. Our on-site chef cooks a homemade meal 5 days a week to be served in our dining room and to be sent out to our homebound neighbors through our Meals on Wheels program. Each meal is checked over by a nutritionist to ensure you're getting a nourishing meal that will provide 1/3 of your daily nutritional requirements (and taste great too)!

Check out our current menu under Programs and Services at the top pf this age.

Grab-n-Go or Congregate (aka Eat-In) Meals available!

Meals are served in our dining room 5 days a week at 11am and are open to the public.   If you're interested in signing up, please call the Center at (802) 485-8112 by 9am the morning of. We ask that you sign up  to ensure we make enough food. Don't worry if you forget to call, we always make a little extra!

For those aged 60 and older there is a suggested donation of $5 per meal and all donations are confidential! For those under 60 we charge $7 per meal.

Meals on Wheels

Our Meals on Wheels program offers home delivered meals for those who are home bound and cannot access our congregate or take-out meals. A person is eligible for Meals on Wheels if:
  • they are 60 years of age or older and are unable to leave the home without considerable difficulty and/or assistance, and
  • experiences a physical or mental condition which makes them unable to obtain food or prepare meals on a temporary or permanent basis.
  • Also eligible is the spouse of an eligible Meals on Wheels participant (regardless of age), or people who are under 60 years of age with a disability who reside with or are in the care of people receiving Meals on Wheels.

GNSC Meals on Wheels program is open to those who live in Northfield, Roxbury, and West Berlin. Meals are delivered up to 5 days a week, with weekend meals available (weekend meals are delivered frozen on Fridays). There is a suggested donation of $5 per meal, and no person is turned away for inability to pay. If you are interested in learning more about our Meals on Wheels program or would like to sign up, please call CVCOA at (802) 477-1364 to complete an application.

Those who are interested in the Meals on Wheels program but are under 60 years of age are asked to contact the Vermont Center for Independent Living to discuss their eligibility requirements.
